چکیده مقاله:

Objective: To investigate whether 14-3-3 eta protein is detectable in synovial fluid and blood serum of high performance horses and to study whether any significant correlation between this and matrix metalloproteinase 1 and 3 in horse synovial fluid. Design: Clinical study. Animals: Eleven standard breed horses (seven high performances and four controls). Procedures: Blood serum and fetlock synovial fluid of seven high performance and four control horses were subjected to western blot for detection of 14-3-3 eta, gama, matrix metalloproteinase 1 and 3 proteins.  Results: High level of 14-3-3 eta protein was detected in synovial fluid of high performance horses compare to those of control (P<0.05). 14-3-3 gama protein was detectable in synovial fluid and significant differences was found between high performance and control horses (P<0.05). The level of matrix metalloproteinase 1 and 3 were significantly increased in samples of high performance horses relative to of that control (p<0.05). The results showed that 14-3-3 eta  protein was significantly increased in serum samples of high performance horses relative to of that control (P<0.05). Conclusions and Clinical Relevance: 14-3-3 eta   isoform can be readily detected in synovial fluid and blood serum of high performance horses and presence of this protein has significant effect on the levels of matrix metalloproteinase 1 and 3 in synovial fluid. As the high performance horses are always prone to joint diseases, this protein might be use as an early diagnostic tool in some joint inflammatory conditions.

Serum 14-3-3-eta

Objective. Serum 14-3-3η is a novel joint-derived proinflammatory mediator implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In our study, we assessed the diagnostic utility of 14-3-3η and its association with standard clinical and serological measures. Methods. A quantitative ELISA was used to assess 14-3-3η levels. Early (n = 99) and established patients with RA (n = 135) were comp...

Comparative study of synovial fluid and serum protein electrophoretic pattern of river buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) in Ahvaz

Electrophoresis is a meticulous method in para-clinical science but has received less attention. In this study, the protein profile of synovial fluid of carpal joint and blood serum in buffalo was detected. Sampling was performed by arthrocentesis of 80 left and right forelimbs and obtaining blood serums of 40 Bubalus bubalis in Ahvaz industrial slaughterhouse. Samples were str...

C reactive protein and immunoglobulin G in synovial fluid and serum in joint disease.

C reactive protein (CRP) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) were measured in synovial fluid and serum of 72 patients (29 with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), 17 with osteoarthritis, 11 with crystal synovitis, seven with undifferentiated arthritis, and eight with seronegative arthritis). The synovial fluid:serum (SF:S) ratios were compared with those calculated from the SF:S ratios of transferrin, caerulopla...

Effect of repeated through-and-through joint lavage on serum amyloid A in synovial fluid from healthy horses.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of through-and-through joint lavage on systemic and synovial serum amyloid A (SAA), total protein, nucleated cell count and percentage of neutrophils in the synovial fluid of six healthy horses. A prospective experimental study was performed where one healthy tarsocrural joint of each horse was randomly assigned to receive repeated through-...

Cerebrospinal fluid 14-3-3-gamma protein level in eight HIV-negative cryptococcal meningitis adults.

The clinical data and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) 14-3-3-gamma protein detection of eight adult HIV-negative cryptococcal meningitis (CM) cases were examined. The eight cases included six males and two females aged 35-70 years (mean = 49.8 years). The duration between the onset of CM symptoms and the first CSF study ranged from 1 to 60 days. Initial neuroimaging study was abnormal in 87.5% (7/8) ...

Clearance of 14-3-3 protein from cerebrospinal fluid heralds the resolution of bacterial meningitis.

The 14-3-3 protein, a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) marker of neuronal damage that was recently adopted for the diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, is also found in the CSF of patients with a variety of neurological disorders. We prospectively studied 12 consecutive patients with purulent bacterial meningitis and found that 14-3-3 protein was detected in all patients at admission to the hospita...
